Tummy Yummies

Back in action today..although I'm not quite 100 percent. It is soooo cold and windy out! I was super comfy in my outfit today though. Just a simple dress stolen from my sister's old closet, a cardi that my aunt wore in high school, a scarf that used to be my mom's sweater, some shoes that I stole from my other sister's closet...hmmmm is there a theme here? Are all of my clothes stolen?! Oh well, I was cozy cozy and even had pockets to put all of my kleenexes...sigh....

Philippians 1:27
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.

Here are some yummies I baked yesterday. My hubby couldn't make it home with the weather so he stayed with a friend and I had all this time on my hands! So I baked 2 loaves of pumpkin bread, two loaves of banana bread, and a huge pan of apple/pear/cranberry crisp stuff-which is completely amazing. That's all I've eaten since last night-it is so good! And lots of fruit too ;) that's healthy right!?

Here's how I made the pumpkin bread, it makes 2 loaves:
Ingredients
• 3 cups all-purpose flour
• 2 cups white sugar
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 2 cups pumpkin puree
• 2/3 cup vegetable oil
• 3 eggs, beaten
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease two 9x5 inch loaf pans.
2. Mix together flour, sugar, baking soda, pie spice, salt and baking powder. Add pumpkin, oil and eggs; mix well.
3. Pour into loaf pans and bake for 1 hour or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
4. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before removing from pans.

The crisp was super easy. I just cut up some apples and pears, mixed them with some white sugar, a little flour, some cinnamon and the cranberries. Then I put a mixture of brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, oatmeal, and melted butter on the top and baked at 350 for an hour! Deeelish!

Inspiration

I have been feeling a little under the weather since around Friday. Today I just had to go observe at a school for one of my classes and it is so freezing outside that I didn't want to tax my body by taking pictures. I thought I'd post some inspiration instead and eat some nice hot soup!
Stay well and warm out there all!
God Bless,

James 5:15
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

And my fashion inspirations:

I love this look for winter. She looks so cozy and adorable and I am obsessed with huge circle scarves right now. Of course, here I would need a huge coat over the outfit as well :)

I loved this look because of the bright colors. I want to try this soon with some of the colors that are in my closet. Plus she just looks so comfy and chic!

This is also another of my favorite looks. I love classic styles and the classic trouser with the vintage blazer, fur collar, pop of red in the lips and glasses, and top knot just make me want to throw out all my clothes that aren't vintage and only wear clothes like this everyday. It's gorgeous.

Apartment Hunting/Date Day

Today Sean and I made our way to look at a couple of apartments where we are (Lord willing!) going to be living. We looked at two places and they both had great closets. I think Sean was a little vexed that this was all I cared about-it didn't matter what anything else looked like, I made a beeline for the closets in those places!! haha...One of the places was a little bigger and had a bigger deck on the outside. It's closet was not a walk in, but it was VERY long. I've never seen a closet that long! And all of it's doors were mirrored, which I love because I grew up with that. It also had a pantry, which the other place didn't have. However this place was 640, compared to the next place which is 600. This 600 dollar place was just a tiny bit smaller, but the second bedroom has french doors AND it has a walk in closet in the master bedroom!! Gak...I didn't want to leave. There is no way I will have an issue fitting my clothes in there! It will be wonderful. So I think we're going to go with the second place. The people living there are moving out on the 9th of December, so it works out perfectly, because we will need to move in about a week or so after that-all we have to do is get the paperwork in and make a deposit as soon as we can!!! Praise the Lord! And the place is even on the first floor, which was Sean's favorite because otherwise he didn't know how we'd get the couch upstairs...hmmmm...:D:D but I am super happy and will be praying like mad that nothing goes wrong with this-it is wonderful!

After apartment shopping Sean and I went to a movie. We saw Tangled (The Disney movie about Rapunzel) and it was AMAZING! It was very very cute and Alan Menken did the score, which is always a plus. We also saw it in 3D which was neat-it was my first 3D movie! After that we went to Olive Garden and ate yummy breadsticks (of course) and now after the drive home Sean is passed out already from exhaustion :) poor guy. I'm a pretty lucky gal to have someone who takes care of me so well :D:D

Off to bed myself! Hope you are having a splendid weekend and God Bless!

Mish Mash

Well hello! I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving day :)
I found it was kind of fun to have two Thanksgivings with my family and Sean's :) It was interesting to see their family's traditions and foods that they eat compared to my family :) They are a ham family and we are a turkey family! hahaha, it was fun!
I opted for the most comfortable outfit (of course!) and pulled my pink checked shirt and one of Sean's sweaters. These photos were taken today though because Sean and I got back too late to take them last night...it was funny-when I put them back on today I noticed they smelled a lot like food...hmmmm....? haha!

I am very excited for tomorrow! Sean and I are going to look at a couple different apartments (hopefully the one we are going to live in!). I am so excited that we are going to be moving within the next month and a half because then Sean won't have to commute and he will have two hours of his day back. And we'll save on gas, car expenses, stress, etc! It will be such a blessing and I am praying the move works out!
After we look at apartments we are going to Olive Garden (we still have a gift card from our wedding to go there) and then we're going to see Tangled!! It is the new Disney Princess movie about Rapunzel and I am super excited. It looks hilarious.

Hope you all have a great weekend!
God Bless,
KJA

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!

I’m typing this as Sean and I drive to his hometown for Thanksgiving :) All of his family is going to be there-which is exciting!

I’m not sure I will be blogging tomorrow, but if not I will be back Friday for sure!
I didn’t do much today except get packed and wash dishes and laundry and such. It’s finally starting to feel like SD weather outside. Freezing rain and snow with lots of cold, cold wind! Here we go winter!

I hope everyone has a very Happy Thanksgiving! Whether you eat turkey like my family, or ham like Sean’s family it really doesn’t matter :) As long as there is stuffing!! That is my requirement :D :D haha.

But really, what are you thankful for this year? Just having a warm roof over your head and a big Thanksgiving meal is a blessing considering others who are less fortunate. My grandma always told my sisters and I that we live like queens where we are and I completely agree. We have so much abundance, but the things that are really important are family, friends, and love and Jesus :) I am thankful that He died on the cross for everyone on earth-including me. Without His love and sacrifice we wouldn’t be anything. All good things come from our loving God.

I am so thankful for that and my wonderful family who loves me so much, even through my shortcomings-that’s what family is for right?

God bless!

Bugs in your shoes

I put my foot into my shoes and felt something, so I took them off to shake it out....and it was one of those icky asian beetles that seen to be infesting our house! Blech...They're everywhere! Well, I suppose this is just more fodder for Sean's fire when he says that I need to throw these shoes out. He called them "five shades of dirty" But what can I say, I love these! I finally have them broken in, they are comfortable, AND (before the dirt) they go with everything I own. Can't get much better than that.

I wish I could float around in dainty dresses and tights like many of the other bloggers I see, but really-in SD? It's just too cold I say. My limbs would fall off. Besides, these jeans have been with me (and my sister) since...oooh middle school? We each bought a pair and I wore mine out pretty well. She ended up giving me her pair too when she didn't want them anymore, so this is her pair! haha...we have a few items of clothing with the same story.

Well, we're supposed to get snow and such tomorrow, so I hope everyone has safe travels to wherever you're going for Thanksgiving! Sean and I have only about an hour to drive.

Blessings,
KJA

Weekend in Review :D

This will be a combined post as I try to play catch up from this fabulous weekend filled with family and I lot of 'I love you's!' from the nephew :D:D

Friday night I got to see the little (not so little anymore though...) girls that I used to baby sit as they were in a play! One of them had a main role and she was faaaantastic! I so enjoyed watching them both perform and do such a great job! Especially since I love theater myself :D
Saturday was spent seeing one of my best friends and hanging out with family all day long :) I ADORE my nephews. The oldest one (who isn't even two yet) is just starting to talk and repeat everything. I love hearing him say "I love you!" and then run into your arms to give you a big hug-he is such a sweet little boy! We were entertained all weekend by his singing and dancing and just being a happy little guy. My newborn nephew is just a doll too. He has the most precious little face and I could have held on to him all day long :) Blessings blessings blessings! It's just crazy to think of all the great things God has given us to bring joy and happiness in our lives. We just have to dwell on those things, and not on the things in our life that we think need to bring us down. It's so easy to let stress and money troubles and such invade your mind, pulling you away from what should be happy times in your life. But one look at my nephew made me forget all of that and see such joy and happiness through his carefree eyes! I loved it :D

I hope you all had a great weekend!
God Bless,
KJA

My hubby just told me that this whole time he has a tripod in his room at home. I was like "you had a tripod this whole time and you have been letting me take the crappiest pics ever??" hahahaha So we're definitely getting the tripod this weekend and I am sooo excited!

Busy as a Bee!

Alrighty, I'm going to keep this brief because I am on my way out the door!
You guys, I am so excited. This weekend is our family's Thanksgiving so I get to see so many people! My sister, nephews, parents, my favorite girlies whom I used to babysit, my bestie-I am pretty much looking forward to cramming in as much as I possibly can!
So I've got my baking done, my laundry done, all of the dishes done, the kitchen clean, garbages out, all packed and now I'm ready to go! And all before noon! Whew....
Hope you all have a splendid weekend and I will be back on Monday with a post for you all :D!!

God Bless,
KJA
