I Should Have Been a Lawyer

I had class all day long today-and then over my lunch break I had to go to court to fight a ticket I had gotten when I had my accident. I thought that my court time was just for me to fight my ticket, but it turns out that it's just a court room and a BUNCH of people are all there to fight their tickets. I was one of the last people to go up and plead my case (already 45 minutes late for my next class), and I was not going to take no for an answer. The system is so messed up because they don't want to make it easy for you to plead your case at all. They gave me this court date, so I showed up and because I was pleading 'not guilty' they wanted to set up a meeting with an attorney and then ANOTHER court date to plead my case later! I don't have time to come back two more times! And why would I even have come to the court date today if I was going to plead guilty? It doesn't make sense.
-ANYWAY-
I got up to the microphone and said, " I am pleading not guilty and if at all possible I would like to get this taken care of today." The judge said, "Oh we'll set you up with meetings and then another court date blah blah blah.I can't do anything for you because it's an accident blah blah blah." I said, "Listen, I'm already missing class for this, I have class twelve hours a day five days a week and I don't have time to come to all of these meetings. I feel like I'm being treated very unfairly and especially feel as though the policeman didn't give a valid reason for ticketing me. When he gave me the ticket he told me that, 'he only gave me a ticket because he gave everyone else in the accident a ticket and it wouldn't look good if he didn't give me one too.' I don't feel like I should have to deal with this situation and pay for something that I did not do." I then went on to explain the conditions of the accident and how there was nothing I could do as I just came upon the three cars already piled up in the road. The judge then asked what damage was done to the girl's car that I hit, and I told her that I made a small dent. She ruffled through the paperwork for a few minutes and said that she'd dismiss my ticket!
Thank you Lord for giving me words to say and saving me 120 dollars! Glad that it's over and I got it taken care of today. One less thing I have to worry about.

I hope you all had a great day, and that you didn't have to go to court for anything :) haha What a headache!

Splendid

What a great weekend I've had so far! My sister came to stay with us Friday night and we had a grand time just hanging out with one another! We (attempted) to bake, did some cooking, some talking, some rocking out to music. It was just a blast. Then Saturday we made our way to our other sister's house to (finally!) have our family Christmas. My family works such odd hours that it's hard to coordinate a time to get together. A month after Christmas it finally worked out! But I'm glad-it was such a great day. I am still editing the around 500 pictures that I took of the day-I will post a few of those this week :) We had brunch, spent time with our hilarious nephews, opened gifts, and even watched some old home videos. Perfection!

Hope you have a splendid Sunday!
God Bless,
KJA

Isaiah 12:4-5
In that wonderful day you will sing: Thank the LORD! Praise his name! Tell the nations what he has done. Let them know how mighty he is! Sing to the LORD, for he has done wonderful things. Make known his praise around the world.

I got this simply lovely scarf from my mama as one of her Christmas presents to me! She and my older sister each got me a scarf and I'm soooo excited. I have a love affair with scarves that just won't quit, especially when it is so cold outside!

Menswear and Flowers

I dressed up with a fake mustache and a man blazer today for my kiddos. I've been teaching our unit on coins and money and to end the lesson I did a final fun activity. I got some cheap little pencils, stickers, and smarties candy and opened up a general store! I called it "Bob's General Store" and pretended to be 'Mrs. Aman's Uncle Bob'. The kids just went crazy-they loved it so much! It was a blast. They each had 25 cents in fake money and had to come and count out how much they needed for what they wanted to buy. I would definitely do this lesson again! I always remember the things we did as kids that really helped me to learn and it was always these fun projects. I wanted to make sure my students had something to remember!

God Bless and have a wonderful evening!

Busy Beaver

I was a busy, busy beaver today. Had class, ran errands, did housework, did homework, made supper...whew! I'm beat.
Have a good night lovlies!

Love this passage:

Ephesians 3:16-21
I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Ice Rink

Our adventures to find a picture taking spot led us to an ice skating rink today! It's terribly dark outside, but I had a blast taking pics on this slippery pond of ice. Now I want more than ever to have a pair of ice skates. I made Sean promise to take me for my birthday in February. I've always wanted to learn to ice skate! I'm a little more than obsessed with watching figure skating, so it's no surprise that I'd want to try myself.
I got four lesson plans done last night, so I'm kind of taking it easy on homework today, although I can't really afford to take a break.
Have a lovely Sunday all!

Luke 16:10-12
If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people’s things, why should you be trusted with things of your own?

Velvet

It was a fun day today! I got up and made tortillas with ham and eggs for breakfast. Then I attempted to do some homework, but didn't really succeed. This afternoon Sean and I met some friends at a local coffee shop to catch up on life. It was a good time! Now I'm back to writing lesson plans-oh sooo many lesson plans.

Have a great night!
