Happy Birthday little blog, Meet my new boots :)

The weather is CA-RAZY everybody! It is pouring rain outside...in February....!? It was supposed to snow, but all it's done all day long is rain and rain, and then freeze and then rain some more. I had class this morning, and our afternoon class got cancelled as our professors have to drive an hour and decided not to because of the weather. So I'm getting some things caught up this afternoon! More of the same-laundry and homework and dishes...siiiigh.

It's a good thing my generous parents gave me some money for my birthday-I was able to go to Kohl's yesterday and buy myself a pair of snowboots (finally)! I knew the weather was going to get bad and so I wanted some boots before it got out of hand. I looked around and debated in Kohl's for nearly an hour and a half trying to decide which pair of boots to buy. Some were too big, some didn't fit right, some were too poofy :P BUT I found this pair towards the end of my shopping and just fell in love! They are perfect for winter, but also will transition well into endless spring rains! They are warm and great for snow, but are still sleek and look much nicer than a traditional pair of clunky and uncomfortable snowboots. I LOVE them! Plus, the fact that I was prepared to pay the 24 dollar clearance price and they rang up as 17 dollars didn't hurt my happiness either. Gosh I love Kohl's.
Bring on the weather South Dakota! I'm prepared :)

Also, I can't forget that today is my two year blogiversary! Two years ago I started this little creative outlet of mine to have some fun taking pictures and coming up with creative ways to wear all of my thrifted items. I'm still having a blast and hope to continue for as long as I can! Here is my very first post on this little baby of mine. I've gotten a little better at this, no? Maybe not much...but a little bit ;) haha.

I hope you are staying safe!
God Bless,
KJA

Birthday Weekend

Today was a dose of reality after my fantastic birthday weekend! Saturday was my birthday and I got to spend it seeing many of my favorite people! They day started out watching one of my favorite little gals during her ice skating lesson. I got to see two of the girls I used to babysit-they're getting so grown up now! We had lunch and then Sean and I spent the afternoon doing a little bit of thrifting :) We went to a couple of traditional thrift stores as well as an antique shop! I picked up some fun little treasures which I will be blogging about soon :) After that I got to have supper with my parents and Sean's parents, as well as an uncle and cousin of mine! It was fun to catch up-not to mention the restaurant we went to gives you free pie on your birthday....um-awesome!
Sunday I got to see some friends of mine at church and then headed off to a baby shower that afternoon. The day ended with a trip to see my lovely sisters and nephews. Whew! It was a busy weekend! But filled with lots of love :)
I only photographed one outfit during the weekend, but that's ok. I was too busy having fun to worry about outfit pics!

Alright darlings, I feel a cold coming on and I just got an email from a professor with about 4 more hours worth of homework contained within the attachments. Here I go!

Have a lovely evening!
God Bless,
KJA

1 John 3:18

Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.

My sweet little girls gave me these necklaces for my birthday! They crocheted them all by themselves and apparently have won purple ribbons for them at the fair :)-Isn't that the cutest? I love them and can't wait to wear them with more of my outfits! I couldn't resist putting them on as soon as they were handed to me.

Currents

It's been a hectic day today! Or maybe it just seems that way after the relaxing long weekend I had...school and errands and such is all. I had a group presentation after lunch today and our professor told us in front of the class after everyone presented that ours was not as good because we didn't know any of the content and couldn't answer his obscure questions about ocean currents. So that's how my day has been. I definitely gave him a piece of my mind...

Anyway, back to more homework darlings!

Romans 13:9-10
For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law.

Dreary

The weather got so dark and dreary out today! Sean and I ran some errands and I spent about two hours beating Dance Central 2 for Kinect. It was so tough, but I feel awesome! I was about falling on the floor by the time I was done!

Now we're going to enjoy our last evening of freedom before it's back to the daily grind.
Smoothie time!

Proverbs 17:9
Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends.

Also, after I went to bed last night, this is apparently what my husband morphed into. A video game playing pillow pet. Cute, right?

Cozy

Another lovely day outside today! The sun keeps shining which is always good for brightening one's mood :)
I found this sweater in my grandmother's house a few years ago. It has a few holes here and there which I (poorly) patched up, but I love it. It is cozy and warm, and I adore the darker pink color. I thrifted this dress in my hometown years ago. It was on the costume rack and priced 60 cents. Sold!
Other than that, our Sunday will be much like our Saturday :) More smoothies and pj's and homework.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Luke 15:4-5
“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders."

Found this lovely spot on our way home from church:

Vintage Knits

I'm posting a ridiculous amount of photos today. We caught the evening light just at the right time and I loved all these photos! Sean just kept snapping away. There's this little spot over a hill near our apartments where I like to take photos. Usually I take the photos on top of the hill, but for some reason they mowed the grass down to this little creek so I've been able to go down there for photos! It's kind of laden with garbage and not really anything special, but I like this little spot :) It gets me out of the way of peering eyes who make fun of me while I'm taking pics...Katie no likey. Plus it's a little more stable for my tripod as it is a flat space...and not on a hill.

Sean and I had such a laid back day today! I worked on some homework, cooked and cleaned a bit, made smoothies...a great Saturday!

I found this amazing duck sweater in the vintage section with all the little boys clothes. It was only two dollars and I immediately knew I had to make it mine. It's super warm and cozy and I'm so smitten with the little duckies! I also found a couple of new amazing hats at Old Navy yesterday. I shouldn't have, but for only a couple of dollars a piece I couldn't pass them up. I so seldom find hats that properly fit my head, and I'm just in love with everything about this black fedora! It has a lovely little brown belt around the top.
The shorts were a pair of horrible vintage pants that I reworked. I tried to make them wearable as pants, but simply couldn't do it. They were just too tapered. So I cut them off to make these charming little shorts! So much more potential to them now.
Lastly, my cape was bought at a rummage sale for only a dollar a couple of years ago. It is vintage JC Penny and I'm in love with it. It's the perfect piece to throw over any outfit, in my opinion! The tights and necklace are from my wonderful mama :) Good taste, no?

Whew! I usually don't have time to write this long of a post! It was fun!

How was YOUR day? :)
God Bless,
KJA

I've loved this verse since I learned it in Awana!

Romans 8:38-39
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
