Vintage

I got to spend some of my weekend at home and the last couple of days with my sweet nephews. It had been so long since I'd seen them and they have changed so much! Both of them can talk up a storm now which is hilarious and wonderful :)
Also, please read this. You will probably cry.

That is all for tonight. Hope you're having a great week!
God Bless,

Family

I got to hang out with these three lovely ladies this weekend!

We had a marvelous sleepover that involved much dancing, eating, and general merriment :) This is going to make me feel old, but I have watched these girls grow up since I was ten years old. They are three sisters and I was ten when the eldest was born...13 1/2 years ago!! I watched them until I left for college and they were all three in my wedding. I miss them so much! I was more than blessed to have them come stay with me for the weekend...

Aaaaaan, just for good measure, my hubby commanded that I add this to the blog...so here's my silly face :P

I also got to hang out with my wonderful parents this weekend! My mama did so much to make me feel at home and even got up early Sunday morning to make me my favorite-cornbread! She's the sweetest. I also got a ton of fresh fish from my step-dad to take home with me! How blessed to have such a great fisherman in the family ;)
On my way home I stopped to see my sister and hang out with my nephews as well. We read books and played some silly games and it was just the best. I love them so much, and it was nice to catch up with my sister for a bit. I miss my sisters incredibly when I am not with them.
What a great weekend with friends and family! I am so blessed :)
God Bless!

Black, White, and Cranberry

Here are some more old photos for you! I wore this for a chilly dinner out with the family. It has been so hot all week it is weird to see these photos with long sleeves and a coat! Summer is so fickle.

Here is the picture of my first practice wedding cake! It is extremely simple, but I think it turned out all right for my first try. I need a lot more practice and I only have a month to do it!

Happy weekending everyone! I will be having a sleepover with three of my favorite girls who walked in my wedding. I don't have anything planned yet, but I'm excited to catch up and hang out!
God Bless!

Decorating

I've been so productive already this week! I've done a ton of laundry (and actually folded it), gone running every day, and taken time to work on my cake decorating. A friend of mine is getting married in only around a month an she asked me to make her wedding cake! Eeps! I've made simple cakes before for birthdays and such, but never something so important as a wedding cake! I am in the process of decorating a practice cake as we speak...but while the frosting hardens I figured I could sneak in a post. I'm having trouble coming up with a frosting to use though. I don't want to use buttercream so I tried a whipped recipe, but it keeps melting...Oh well, more practicing I suppose! Luckily Sean is going to be taking the practice cakes to his workplace so we don't have them sitting around here going to waste.

Well, back to decorating!
God Bless,

Looking Forward to It

What a fun relaxing weekend I've had! As you saw from yesterday's post, we spent a good part of our Saturday at the zoo walking around. I had so, so much fun and it brought back lots of childhood memories as that was the zoo that I grew up going to as a little girl.
I also got to do a bit of vintage shopping with my sister in law which was great! We had a lot of fun hitting up the different shops in town and just chatting about life. I found a treasure trove of vintage hats at one store and I cannot wait to debut them all to you! I couldn't wait to place one on my head immediately and wear it to church this morning. It was the perfect topper to my vintage blue dress!

The perfect end to this evening was that I got to skype with my beautiful sister in Nepal! She is in such a different time zone than I that we have difficulty finding time when the other is not sleeping or busy with their day. She is doing really well this month working with Nepali girls who live in a rehabilitation home aiming to stop the spread of sex-trafficking. Here is the link to her blog documenting her journey!

I'm back to work at the afterschool program tomorrow! I am beyond excited. My hours are way better and so are my bosses. I can't wait to see some of my students from last year too! I'm sure they've grown so much over the summer. I also cannot believe that school begins tomorrow! It hardly seems possible that it has been an entire summer already and I really think that I just accidentally blinked and missed the whole thing. I'm convinced.

I hope you all have a lovely and glorious week ahead of you :) For the first time in what seems like a very long while I'm really looking forward to my week!
God Bless,
KJA

A Trip to see the Tigers!

Sean and I made the trip to his hometown today to visit the zoo for a bit. The highlight of the day was that we had a sweet hookup to see two baby white Bengal Tigers that were two months old. They were getting pretty big and rambunctious, but we were able to watch them get fed and pet them and play with them! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity. We were all so grateful and excited to be able to witness such beauty up close and personal!
No fun outfits in this post, just a look at God's glorious creations :D

Genesis 1:24-25
Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
