Fading Light

I feel bad what with all of the crazy weather going on around the country that it has been so beautiful here. It is sunny and in the crisp 50's! I'm just soaking in all of the loveliness while playing outside with my students.
I actually just found out that I got a great promotion! I have been working as a helper at the after school program, but starting after Thanksgiving I will be working as a site coordinator, so I will have my own school program to run! I will be like the boss of that site (small as it may be). I'm pretty excited! I just feel so blessed to have received this opportunity out of the blue. I'm going to be working on lesson planning  like a madwoman for the next few weeks and preparing for all of the new things this job will entail!

I've been going a bit hat crazy as of late.  I cannot stop wearing them! I'm just in love with hats of every style/color/fabric. Seriously. This one I found at Target. It was the last one and I snatched it up before it could leave my sight. When I got up to the register I found out that it was on clearance too! How lucky for me :)

Enjoy your day darlings! Hope you had a very festive Halloween :) Sean and I and my sister in law stayed in and watched Friends and laughed until our sides burst. Twas lovely :)

God Bless!

First Snow

Last Thursday there was a lovely first snow. It melted later on in the day, but for a few glorious hours we had a blanket of frosty white which reminded us all that this is going to be a very different winter. Last year we didn't get snow until late December (I think?) and now we're getting snow in October! One of my very best friends works for an airline and so she was able to fly in for a couple of days to spend time with me! It was glorious because that was the week that Sean was away on business, so that way I didn't have to spend the entire week alone. We did so many fun things! We baked a bit, shopped a bit, and stayed up late watching movies and talking :) We only missed our third amiga Rachelle to complete the festivities.
I already posted these on facebook, so I'm sure some of you have seen these photos, but I wanted to post them on the blog as well!
Hope you have a great week, and happy Halloween all!

Ephesians 2:8-9
God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

Floral Tuxedo

The wind has been a little bit crazy here lately, but I really can't complain what with hurricane Sandy on it's way through the East coast. I think South Dakota is about the best place to live. The only bad weather we have to worry about are blizzards and the occasional tornado. I'll take that over hurricanes!
The weather here the past couple of days has actually been very nice, albeit a bit too sunny for nice photos. I have so many swapped items in my closet that I need to take pictures of and send back to their owners, but I just have to figure out the right time to do it! I've tried getting up early in the morning to take photos, but it is already too sunny then. The only time would be in the evening and by the time we get home from work it is too dark...haha-first world blogger problems right?!
I got this coat from (who else?) my stylish grandmother! She told me it was her first, "grown up coat." I adore it so much. It is one of my favorite colors and is just made so well. She kept her clothing in great condition which I am so thankful for!

This skirt is a swap from Jessica from Midwest Muse. She has the most lovely pieces and I couldn't wait to style up this amazing skirt! It has a really nice gauzy texture and the loveliest print. I called this outfit the "Floral Tuxedo" as a play on head-to-toe denim which is the Canadian Tuxedo. I just couldn't resist pairing my vintage floral top with this skirt because the colors and flowers matched so well! Even if it is a bit obnoxious to the eye, I quite liked the combination. I feel as though it was a nice step out of my comfort zone as I don't often mix bold prints with one another.

Told you it was windy! :D Here was my "Marilyn Moment":

Soon I will post about this swap on Flock Together and you will get to see how Jessica styled this skirt as well. I will link to it when it launches!

Have a lovely day all :)

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Family Time

This weekend was filled with such happy times at my sister's farm! My little nephew had his second birthday on Friday, so we celebrated together on Saturday. There were camouflage cupcakes and kitties and goats and horses. Not to mention the two most precious boys I know! Here is what I wore and a couple of fun photos thrown in :)

Happy Monday darlings! Hope you have a lovely week ahead of you,

1 Peter 1: 24-25
As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

Feeling a bit 60's

I  attended the baby shower of one of my closest friends the other day. It seems so strange that all of my friends are having babies and such. I still feel like a baby myself! At some point in life I'm going to have to realize that I am no longer a little kid, even though I act like it! I'm just young at heart, right? Nothing wrong with that!

This is quite the different hairstyle for me. The dress inspired me to go a bit 1960's and so I parted my layers in the middle and twisted a poof in half of my hair. Then I pinned back the parted pieces in the back. I quite liked the result.

I threw on some cat eye eyeliner and a boxy purse and the look was complete! To go even crazier with this look I took some foundation to nude out my lips as well. That's the first time I've tried that! I love being adventurous and out there with fashion, that's what makes it so fun. :)

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct.
