It's Electric

What a busy, busy week! I never seem to get used to the hustle and bustle that fall brings. I get so used to my laid back summers that it is quite an adjustment to have a nonstop schedule once school starts. I suppose it has to be that way though or I'd turn into a mushy pile of hermit all cuddled up on the couch in my fuzzy socks 24/7. Gosh that sounds nice. But for now I'll embrace the go-getter in me while it lasts, because for those who know me, my energy spurts only last so long and then I'm back to recluse status.
Here is what I put on to go have lunch with some friends after my 5k on Saturday! We ate some carbs and then went thrifting, what a glorious way to spend the day.

You'll be seeing lots of coats in my posts from here on out I imagine. Outerwear is my very favorite thing, I love to add another dimension to whatever it is I'm wearing. It's an opportunity to throw it a mismatched color, or an odd pattern and still have the ensemble work.

This dress is a juxtaposition. It's electric blue color would lead one to believe this is a summery dress. However it's long sleeves and weighty fabric say otherwise. I love pulling my long sleeve dresses out come cooler weather. It gives me more options to choose from. This particular dress was given to me by the wife of one of Sean's coworkers! She found out I love vintage and bought me this for my birthday! Now wasn't that sweet?

Alright ladies and gents it's time for me to get back to real life again, smile a lot today, ok?
God Bless,

Review: Modern Design Inc.

Why hello there! How nice of you to drop by. Today I'm dishing about jewelry. Really, even if you're not a 'jewelry person' as many say, all women (and some men!) love to have at least a couple of quality pieces in their wardrobe to pull out now and then. I have a few nice pieces of jewelry, the best being my wedding ring. Other than that I only have jewelry that has been thrifted or gifted to me in some way. I was thrilled when Modern Design Inc., a custom jewelry company based out of Los Angeles, contacted me to review one of their tungsten rings!  As stated in their their website, "Modern Design Inc. is a manufacturer and wholesaler of custom diamond jewelry based in the heart of the downtown Los Angeles Jewelry District. All of our jewelry is made in the USA." Looking through their selection of rings, from diamond to platinum I was blown away by the beauty and quality of the bands. Each piece is simple and classic, which transcends well into anyone's style preference-whether you're a vintage girl like me or just someone who wants to add a bit of interest to your everyday wardrobe.
They have a stunning collection of engagement and wedding bands for both men and women, as well as collections of diamond earrings and pendants.

When looking through the beautiful collection of Tungsten Rings they had to offer, I decided to choose something very simple. I loved the diamond design of their Polished Slim Tungsten Carbide Ring with Facets. It reminded me of a beautiful ring I wore constantly throughout high school, but sadly lost at a game in about my Jr. year. I wanted a style that could easily be worn with any outfit and was comfortable enough to be worn for everyday. I was not disappointed. Not only did my ring come extremely quickly in the mail, but it came securely as well. The ring was sent in two boxes, a large envelope, and a smaller envelope. It was beautifully polished and the color is very true to what the photos depict on the website. It was a bit wider in style than I was planning, but that is of no matter. The ring is lovely and I have been wearing it nonstop, as their bands are made with comfort fit which is described as, "rounded off on the inside so they slide on easier and sit on your finger comfortably.  Most people want a comfort fit so that the ring will not pinch into their finger." Now that is a statement I can agree with!

I found the ring to be a perfect fit in all areas of my style!

Not only did I have a great experience with the quality and beauty of the jewelry I was sent, but I received incredible customer service as well. They genuinely seemed interested while working with me and made the experience quite enjoyable.

If any of you are in need of some stunning jewelry that will stand the test of time then check out Modern Design Inc.! I promise you will not be disappointed.

Have a great day everyone!

Trick or Treat Trail Run 2013

Hey there guys and dolls! Yesterday was quite a milestone day for me as I was able to run my very first 5k race (along with Sean whom I forced to run with me :) )! It was a Halloween themed run so of course I ran as a 50's I Love Lucy reincarnation. It really wasn't anything different than my normal attire, so it felt very natural to me, haha! My goal was to complete the race having run the whole thing without walking, and I was able to do that! I ran it in 34:58 which I was extremely proud of. Having never been a runner in my life, I began training in January with the thought that I'd never be able to run in long increments. But the longer I trained I began to see that if I mentally told myself I could run a little bit farther, my body would comply. I cannot believe I am able to run for that long and I've already downloaded a 10k app that I want to start training on. I'm not sure I'll ever run a 10k, but it will be a series of great workouts nonetheless.

It was quite a stressful morning for the run actually. We got to the park with some time to warm up when I realized I had left my ipod at home. I immediately freaked out because there is no way I can run without music. I made Sean drive us home and we got back to begin the race just in the nick of time!  Silly me...but I was so glad to have my tunes and it helped me tremendously.

The above pictures are from before the race, and the below pictures are what I looked like after the run. You can see my earbuds still hanging down! I was very worried my hair would be all over the place from flopping up and down, but I sprayed the goodness out of it and it must have helped hold it together like a helmet of hair on top of my head! It was also FREEZING outside so I was so glad to bundle up in my coat after I cooled down a bit. The air was pretty brisk and refreshing during the run, but afterwords I definitely needed my fuzzy socks and a some hot soup, haha.

Here were our post-run snacks-gummy bears for Sean and nuts with m&ms' for me :)

After the run we went out with one of Sean's coworkers (who ran the 10k race) and his wife and three little girls. It was such a fun day and one that made me feel quite accomplished.

God Bless and have a wonderful Sunday!

What I Wear to Work

So, this is what I'm wearing to work these days. I'm so glad the weather has cooled off because I was pretty sick of wearing capris and t-shirts to school when it was hot outside. Now I have endless combinations of tops, cardigans, and boots to play with. Even if I can't wear my vintage to work, I'd still like to feel a bit like me, and purple fuzzy pants help me do that :)

Sneak peek! I got a beautiful tungsten ring from Modern Design jewelry based out of Los Angeles and I can't wait to share some info with you. The ring is lovely and I've been wearing it nonstop as it is a simple and classic design. More on that to come!

I truly hope you all had a great week! I am finally feeling much better, so my spirits are high today :) I just pulled some oatmeal cookies out of the oven, and of course these guys make each day as cute as can be :)
